| The house is a former police station situated on a dike of the river Hollandsche IJssel. We have 4 floors: basement with full kitchen, pantry, small bathroom with a shower and toilet, and access to the backyard, ground/dike level is the office (self-owned business), extra toilet and guest room, 1st level up is lthe living room, patio and bathroom, 2nd level up is three bedrooms and laundry room. We have an outdoor kitchen on the patio, closed-in backyard with a 2nd BBQ and access to the street behind the house. Because it is a converted police station, there are many unique features, such as bedrooms that were formerly holding cells and interrogation rooms (with heavy doors and double-sided mirrors), 2 meters high gate in the back yard, walk-in vault and barbed wire on the fence outside. Despite it all, it now looks AND feels like a home. There is a modern kitchen (Sept. 2006) and bathroom (Feb. 2007). And the view over the village is phenomenal. 46 inch HDTV in the living room, 32 inch HDTV in the kitchen, free wireless internet, DVD player, piano and lots of books (most in English). We offer also use of the bikes for exploring the area. Just on the edge of town we have a community garden with lots of vegetables, fruit trees and berry bushes. |

| Amsterdam, The Hague and Utrecht are within 45 minutes away; Gouda is just 5 minutes away, Rotterdam just 10. This house is in a unique location for seeing Holland. Our village is small and centrally located, close to the freeway, with many activities in the area ranging from flower fields, beaches, sailing, biking, shopping, museums, Temple visits and much more.The village church is across from our back yard with the tower dating back to 1657. We are in the oldest street in the village and within 5 minutes walk to grocery stores, bakeries, park, ferry, pizzeria, chinese restaurant and snackbars. Across the street is the ferry which takes you across the river and opens the door to wonderful bike routes. In the village across the river (Gouderak) there is an outdoor swimming pool surrounded by grass. At the end of the dike towards Gouda, there is an excellent, large, green and gated in playground. Kinderdijk, 16 windmills in one area, is just 25 minutes away; Belgium makes a great day trip, whether you go to Antwerp, Bruges, Ghent or Brussels. |
